WRAHP with support from the African Women’s Development Fund is implementing a project titled ‘STRENGTHENING THE LEADERSHIP CAPACITY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS LIVING WITH DISABILITIES FOR EFFECTIVE SGBV RESPONSE AND ACCESS TO JUSTICE IN aLIMOSHO LGA, LAGOS STATE’ To amplify the voices of women and girls living with disabilities in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos, Nigeria on their sexual and reproductive health and rights, increase their leadership capacity to report and respond to sexual and gender-based violence cases, advocate for the removal of bottlenecks hindering access to justice through joint partnership and engagement with government and private legal services providers in Lagos, Nigeria. WRAHP has implemented a three-day capacity-building workshop for 20 women and girls living with disabilities in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State to educate them about their sexual and reproductive health rights, recognizing various forms of SGBV, provisions of the Lagos State Domestic Violence Law, as well as reporting pathways to access justice. This project will also produce a mini-documentary (featuring trained female champions) to reveal a first-hand perspective about the specific barriers to preserving sexual and reproductive rights and accessing justice among female SGBV survivors living with disabilities. The project will also Organise a documentary screening event and panel discussion (with strong media presence) for up to 30 high-level representatives from formal justice institutions and relevant service providers across Lagos State to serve as an advocacy tool to promote access to justice and enjoyment of human right among women and girls living with disabilities.
