HIV/AIDS Play for Life Campaign

 

WRAHP with support from the King Baudouin Foundation managed Nike (RED) fund implemented an eight-month intervention in 2010 on HIV/AIDS prevention, sexual and reproductive health and life skills targeting vulnerable out of school females and grassroots communities using football game. The programme created massive awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention and control, provided free on-site HIV screening to players and spectators and increased the access of vulnerable out of school girls to sexual and reproductive health education and life skills. Utilizing football tournaments and routine club training sessions, peer education sessions on health and life planning were integrated with playing football. The project reached over 4000 footballs and spectators.
